Chard is a Mediterranean plant, belonging to the Cheniopodiaceae family, that has ancient origins and uses. In addition to being refreshing, purifying and hypocaloric, chard is an essential source of beneficial proprieties.
Chard can be stored for a short period in refrigerator.
A robust health
Thanks to its beneficial proprieties, chard is one of the healthiest leafy greens. It is considered a “Superfood” – the high presence of antioxidants, fibres, iron, calcium and its ability to regulate glycerol levels and blood pressure, in addition to the ability to improve vision, make chard a real supernutrient food for humans.
The small village of Isnello (Palermo, Sicily) is the right place to taste many varieties of wild greens, including chard. The Wild Greens Food Festival takes place in April in a picturesque hilly Sicilian landscape.
